Op-Ed how-to

• Add a page to the op-ed page on your topic, title it as you wish and opine away
• If there isn't an op-ed page on your topic yet, add it from the main page of the topic
• Wiki Road Rules apply, even to your own page
• Link to sources as often as you can
• Feel free to come back and edit when you learn more and refine your opinion
• Point of civility: Don't edit someone else's op-ed, write your own.  Feel free to link to other op-eds on the topic, as long as you stay civil.

Tips for a successful Op-Ed

• Grab the reader in the first sentence.  Tell them what to expect.
• Try to keep it under 800 words (600 is better): This is the standard op-ed length in your local paper.  People are busy and will be overwhelmed by additional length.  Your chance of being read increases as your length decreases.
